American Bulldog Registries

American Bulldog Registries, American Bulldogs, Performance American Bulldogs, American bulldogs, AMERICAN BULLDOGS
Lone Oak Kennel American Bulldogs are registered with the National American Bulldog Association (NABA).  I also register dogs with the NKC and UKC which I think are more professional clubs to belong to in terms of receiving prompt registration papers, bigger shows and field triles. This will help people who want to participate or show American Bulldogs.  I do not recommend personally owned and operated organizations for obvious reasons.

Most all American Bulldog registries and standards are listed below.   As you might have guessed with all of the different registries listed, there is a lot of conflict among American Bulldog breeders. These registries change quite often as some do come and go.

There are different types of so called "American Bulldogs" out there !!   Research the different AB registry standards. Look at pictures of dogs in each registry to find the type of AB you like.   Ask yourself is health more important than looks; many American breeders don't think so... That is why some are infusing English Bulldog, Mastiff, Pit Bull and whatever into the American Bulldog.  Then they find a dog registry that will take them or create one...

Lone Oak could also form our own American Bulldog Registry and declare our dogs National or International champions with the stroke of the keyboard.  We to could declare anything!  IT'S ALL HYPE and Opinion -- Our Club is better than Your Club and Our Dogs are Better than Yours !  This is designed to persuade YOU, the Public, to BUY their dogs and join their club house.

We try hard to steer clear of this mess.   At Lone Oak Kennel, we stand on our integrity and experience.   Our word is our bond.

Over the past several years the American Bulldog, breed has grown in popularity and the price has soared. A corresponding increase in the number of breeders also occurred. This influx in profit driven American Bulldog breeders has led to a number of practices that threatens the very existence of the breed as it has been known for many years.   It is becoming increasingly evident that unless serious efforts are made to preserve the American Bulldog, it is destined to join the ranks of numerous other breeds who original purpose and abilities have been reduced to legend.   The infusion and cross-breading of other dog breeds have and are being done. This creates genetically sick dogs, and creates a diversity of American bulldog-type mongrels flooding the market and bilking the public. These dogs are being marketed as American Bulldogs, both "Johnson" and "Scott" type. This is clearly misleading at best.  People will do or say anything for a buck!

I wish we as Americans Bulldog Breeders would put our individual differences aside and agree on what is best for the dogs.   Unfortunately that seems impossible.   So you the public choose which type American Bulldog you want, and which breeder you think you can TRUST.

Registries, in my humble opinion, fall way short of protecting, the dogs, consumers and other breeders. They offer little to no corrective action against violations of guarantee, or offer a "Breeder code of Ethics". The breeder who sold you a bad dog is free to sell more ! Breeders who offer lifetime or other genetic guarantees, yet knowingly and deliberately sell defects to the public and other breeders, go without punishment. This leaves the door wide open for what should be clearly a criminal offense. It should be the responsibility of Registry/origination to enforce the breeding of quality genetics and help settle disputes about guarantees their breeders have made publicly and if necessary dispel them from their registry... I would be willing to pay more, how about you? Registries could dramatically help stop dogs and breeders that are in fact genetically dysfunctional, or dishonest from spreading throughout the country!
